Tattoo Consultation Process
When a client inquires about working together on a large scale piece, I generally like to meet in person to consult further about the process.
My priority is that we will end up with a final product that we are both proud of. I want to communicate honestly so that I can understand what you’re looking for, and make sure my style would be a good fit.
Typically, I like to look at some references you’ve gathered together. This gives me a starting point to see what styles and details you are drawn to. I want get a sense of what each client wants to express with their piece, in terms of mood and aesthetics. For example, some clients prefer a more serene emotion, and others something more fierce.
I’ll use my expertise and experience to guide the design, offering suggestions of what I feel will make sense artistically, while trying my best to respect the rules of Japanese tattooing, as well as the client’s vision. When I have suggestions, I’ll do my best to describe why something may or may not work.
There are times that I feel the client would be better served with an artist that more closely fits the styles they are drawn toward. My goal is always to guide you into a piece that you are happy with. This process is a journey. It’s a lot of time, pain, money and commitment, and we want to be aligned on that journey.
During the consultation we will chat about pricing and the design process. I will go over all the details of how I work and what to expect so that there are no questions unanswered. Often clients need a few days to think about whether or not to move forward, which I encourage should they feel it’s needed.
I’m looking forward to talking with more of you about your ideas. I believe Japanese tattooing has a magic to it. High-quality large scale work is rare, because it has to be earned. I love the process of watching the piece grow with, and become part of the person at our monthly sessions. I’m looking forward to enjoying the journey with many more of you, and to always give my best effort. I love this work, and the people, who through our collaboration, allow me to do what I love.
My whole heart goes into every piece for you.
頑張りましょう!
